Eaton Softball easily dispatched Sterling 13-2 on Saturday
Sterling opened up scoring in the second inning, when M Smock singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.
Eaton pulled away for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third Jaymie Woody singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, Sadie Ross drew a walk, scoring one run, Jenni Jarnagin doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs, and Yaritza Puente doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Eaton tallied five runs in the fourth inning. The Reds put the pressure on, lead by singles by Jarnagin, Emma Pinkstaff, and Olivia Comer, an error on a ball put in play by Puente, and a double by Brooke Beacom.
Ross was the winning pitcher for Eaton. Ross allowed one hit and two runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking zero.
K Bohler took the loss for Sterling. Bohler surrendered ten runs on 11 hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one.
Eaton racked up 13 hits. Jarnagin, Ross, and Pinkstaff all managed multiple hits for the Reds. Jarnagin led Eaton with three hits in four at bats. The Reds tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Ross led the way with three.
Smock went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead Sterling in hits.
