Big Second Inning Propels Eaton Softball To Win Over Sterling

Eight runs in the second inning led Eaton past Sterling 13-1 on Saturday. Eaton batters contributing to the big inning included Sadie Ross, Yaritza Puente, Brooke Beacom, Emma Pinkstaff, Blayke Duncan, and Jenni Jarnagin, all driving in runs in the inning.

Eaton fired up the offense in the first inning. Eaton Softball - Varsity scored one run when Ross singled. The Reds put up eight runs in the second inning. Eaton Softball - Varsity's offense in the inning came from singles by Ross, Puente, Beacom, Pinkstaff, and Duncan and a double by Jarnagin. Ross was the winning pitcher for Eaton. She went four innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out four and walking one.

K Bohler took the loss for Sterling. She allowed 12 hits and 13 runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three.

The Reds had 12 hits in the game. Jarnagin, Jaymie Woody, Ross, and Pinkstaff each racked up multiple hits for Eaton. Jarnagin led Eaton with three hits in three at bats. Eaton didn't commit a single error in the field. Woody had seven chances in the field, the most on the team. Jarnagin led the Reds with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases.

E Reeves went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Sterling in hits.
